We meet at Strandkaiterminalen at 7:45am with our luggage, our busses leave 8:10am.
The busses will take us back to Strandkaiterminalen about 3:00pm.
For those of you renting a car this would be the pickup time.
Driving takes about 2,5hrs depending on traffic and how long you have to wait for the car ferry.
Follow the E39 towards Stavanger til you “hit” Bømlo.
The speedboat to Bømlo departs at 4:05pm and takes us to Rubbestadneset on Bømlo, (Bømlo hotel is just up the hill.)
Dinner is served from 7:30pm at Bømlo hotel.
Saturday June 30th
Saturday forenoon includes walking and possible hiking, running shoes or good walking shoes are a good idea.
Saturday evening we will be at an old fish-house, a place with a taste of history with limited heating.

To limit transatlantic money exchanges Tom and Susan have created a Thorsheim Reunion bank account. Our foreign exchange currency banker suggested we use 5.60NK per USD. This may be a little low exchange rate but it will provide a safe margin.
Please intstruct the American families to send their checks to us, addressed as: Thomas Hougen, M.D., 11920 Cragwood Way, Potomac, MD, 20854-1201.
Please have them note on the check Thorsheim Reunion. The families should indicate on a separate note what activities they are paying for and how many individuals are involved with each activity.
We assume the following prices:
Bus trip, Friday 30 June – NK – 750 USD – $133.
Supper NK – 250 USD – $45.
Saturday Meals NK – 625 USD – $112.
Sunday Meals NK – 250 USD – $45.
Total NK – 1875 USD – $335.
(Children under 12, 50% reduction)
Using exchange rate of NK-5.60 to each USD.
To all of you —many, many thanks for bringing so many people together for a wonderful gathering.
You all are going to have a fantastic experience in Norway! It will be so much fun to follow any postings on these blogs that Linda created (good going, Linda!) I wish you all smooth travel, enjoying one another, promoting family solidarity, new and renewed contacts, absorbing the beauty and culture of Norway. I think that it is wonderful to be in touch like we are—a great, great feeling. We have had such a good time at reunions in the past. This family is just super to plan for and be with. To a person, people are flexible, understanding of complexities of moving groups of people around and coordinating activities, impact of changing weather, etc. etc. The work of the planning committee (IntaTove, Asta, Aina, Marta) and the financial arrangement assistance of Tom and Susan in the US and Arne Sortland in Norway have been terrific, from all that I have heard and read. Kudos to each and every one! I wish that I could be along with you, but not this time because of several factors all converging at the same time. The family’s generations will be well-represented at the reunion and this is very special.
